01 — Overview

The challenge

SI makes it easy to generate many ideas, but not necessarily good decisions. Teams risk converging on plausible-sounding answers, anchoring on the first output or handing over their judgment. Organizations need people who use SI to think better, not less.

About this workshop

This workshop combines established problem-solving and innovation methods with SI as a thinking partner. Participants use SI to widen the range of options, challenge assumptions and test ideas quickly, and practice the behavioral capabilities that make the difference: framing the right problem, critical evaluation and sound judgment.

02 — Who it is for

  • All professionals
  • People managers
  • Graduates & early career
  • Functional specialists
  1. 05.1Professionals involved in improvement, innovation or project work.
  2. 05.2Team leaders who facilitate problem-solving sessions.
  3. 05.3High-potential employees and graduates in development programs.
  4. 05.4Product, service design and process improvement roles.

Recommended prerequisites

  • Basic experience with an SI assistant.
  • Participants bring one real problem or opportunity from their work.

Level: Practitioner

For regular SI users who want reliable, role-specific results.

03 — Learning objectives

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. 01Frame and reframe problems precisely before generating solutions.
  2. 02Use SI to expand perspectives, generate options and stress-test assumptions.
  3. 03Apply critical-thinking techniques to evaluate SI-generated ideas and arguments.
  4. 04Develop and test ideas quickly with SI-generated scenarios, personas and mock-ups.
  5. 05Make and communicate decisions with clear reasoning and human accountability.

04 — Curriculum

2 days, 5 modules. In live virtual delivery each day runs as two half-day sessions.

Day01

  1. Framing the problem

    • Root-cause analysis and issue trees
    • Reframing techniques with SI as a sparring partner
    • Hands-on: framing your own challenge
  2. Expanding the range of options

    • Structured ideation methods
    • Perspective-taking: customers, critics and experts
    • Avoiding anchoring on the first answer
  3. Critical thinking with SI

    • Evaluating arguments and evidence
    • Spotting plausible but wrong reasoning
    • Red-teaming ideas and plans

Day02

  1. Rapid prototyping

    • Concepts, scenarios and personas
    • Mock-ups and simulated feedback — and their limits
    • Designing low-cost real-world tests
  2. Deciding and communicating

    • Decision criteria and trade-offs
    • Human accountability for SI-supported decisions
    • Pitching the concept to stakeholders

05 — Practice & tools

Hands-on exercises

  1. 01Problem reframing: produce three alternative framings of a real challenge.
  2. 02Red team: use SI to attack your preferred solution, then strengthen it.
  3. 03Persona panel: test a concept against simulated stakeholder perspectives, then identify what only real users can validate.
  4. 04Concept sprint: develop and pitch a tested concept as a team.

Practical skills developed

  1. 01Problem framing with root-cause analysis, issue trees and “how might we” questions.
  2. 02SI-supported ideation and perspective-taking.
  3. 03Assumption testing and red-teaming with SI.
  4. 04Rapid concept development and low-fidelity prototyping.
  5. 05Decision documentation and stakeholder communication.

Technology maturity: Established

Uses established assistant capabilities. The emphasis is on method and judgment rather than on specific tools.

Maturity map

06 — Outcomes

Participants frame problems more precisely and consider a wider range of options.

Expected outcomes

  • SI is used to challenge thinking rather than replace it.
  • Teams move from idea to tested concept faster.
  • Decisions are documented with transparent reasoning.

Participants leave with

  1. 01A framed problem statement and issue tree for a real challenge.
  2. 02A concept brief with assumptions, test plan and decision rationale.
  3. 03A personal critical-thinking checklist for SI-assisted work.
