01 — Overview

The challenge

Most employees now have access to SI assistants, but usage is uneven: some avoid the tools, others trust them too much. Organizations need a shared baseline of understanding — what the technology does, where it fails and what responsible use looks like — before more advanced training can take hold.

About this workshop

Participants build a working understanding of large language models, multimodal assistants and agents, without technical jargon. Every concept is tested hands-on with real business tasks, so participants leave with a clear mental model, sound judgment about when to rely on SI output, and a first set of personal workflows.

02 — Who it is for

  • All professionals
  • Graduates & early career
  • People managers
  1. 01.1Employees in any function who are starting to use SI assistants at work.
  2. 01.2Graduates and early-career professionals joining development programs.
  3. 01.3Managers who want a shared vocabulary with their teams before SI tools are rolled out.
  4. 01.4Support functions such as HR, finance, procurement and legal preparing for SI-enabled processes.

Recommended prerequisites

  • No technical background required.
  • Comfort with standard office software.
  • A laptop with browser access. Participants use their organization’s approved assistant where available; tool access is agreed before the workshop.

Level: Foundation

No prior SI experience required. Builds a shared baseline.

03 — Learning objectives

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. 01Explain in plain language how large language models generate output, and why this leads to both strengths and errors.
  2. 02Distinguish between assistants, copilots, reasoning models and agents, and recognize which suits a given task.
  3. 03Apply a simple framework to decide when SI output can be used directly, needs verification, or should not be used.
  4. 04Use SI assistants for drafting, summarizing, analysis and ideation with clear, structured instructions.
  5. 05Recognize data-privacy, confidentiality and intellectual-property risks, and follow responsible-use practices.

04 — Curriculum

2 days, 6 modules. In live virtual delivery each day runs as two half-day sessions.

Day01

  1. How SI systems work

    • From prediction to reasoning: how language models produce output
    • Assistants, copilots, reasoning models and agents: what differs
    • Capabilities and limits: hallucination, recency and context windows
  2. Your first structured instructions

    • Role, task, context, constraints and format
    • Iterating on and refining output
    • Hands-on: summarizing and drafting with real documents
  3. Working with documents, data and images

    • Uploading files and referencing sources
    • Extracting key points, comparing versions and tabulating content
    • Hands-on: analyzing a report and a spreadsheet

Day02

  1. Judgment and verification

    • The use / verify / avoid framework
    • Checking facts, figures and citations
    • Bias and overconfidence in SI output
  2. Responsible and secure use

    • Information classification and what never to paste
    • Intellectual property and attribution
    • Organizational policies and acceptable-use rules
  3. From experiment to habit

    • Mapping your own tasks to SI support
    • Building a personal prompt library
    • Personal action plan for the next 30 days

05 — Practice & tools

Hands-on exercises

  1. 01Side-by-side comparison: the same business task with weak and strong instructions.
  2. 02Error hunt: finding factual and reasoning errors in SI-generated content.
  3. 03Document analysis: extracting decisions and actions from a long internal report.
  4. 04Classification drill: deciding which information may be shared with which tool.
  5. 05Personal task audit: identifying five recurring tasks to support with SI.

Practical skills developed

  1. 01Writing clear task instructions with context, constraints and output format.
  2. 02Verifying output: checking facts, sources, numbers and reasoning.
  3. 03Working with documents, images and data files in multimodal assistants.
  4. 04Improving output through follow-up instructions instead of starting over.
  5. 05Classifying information before sharing it with any SI tool.

Tools, technologies and workflows

General-purpose assistants
e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Microsoft 365 Copilot, according to the organization’s approved tools
Multimodal input
documents, spreadsheets, images and screenshots used as context
Verification aids
search-enabled assistants, citation checking and original source documents

Product names are examples, not endorsements. Private workshops use your organization’s approved tools; our teaching is vendor-neutral.

Technology maturity: Established

Covers widely deployed assistant technology that organizations already use in daily work.

Maturity map

06 — Outcomes

Participants use SI assistants confidently for everyday drafting, summarizing and analysis.

Expected outcomes

  • Participants apply consistent judgment about when to trust, verify or reject SI output.
  • Teams share a common vocabulary for discussing SI use and risk.
  • Participants follow responsible-use practices that protect confidential information.

Participants leave with

  1. 01A personal prompt library with at least ten tested instructions for recurring tasks.
  2. 02A one-page verification checklist for SI output.
  3. 03A personal 30-day application plan.
